     Competition Winner
Posted by Dave on 5/4/2009

The results are in from our first annual Pro-am competition.  We had 43 entries, some of which were REALLY good.  We had a tough time choosing, but after about 1½ hours of deliberation, we chose a Saison brewed by Mark Kizer and Scott Wells of Austin.  An Imperial IPA brewed by Chris Jones and Ben Ronck gave this beer a serious run for its money.  Honorable mention goes to Eric Lowe for his Tejas Wit.  That was also an outstanding beer.  We had many great beers to choose from, 12 of 43 got pushed to the second round for serious consideration.

I want to thank everyone that entered this competition, as well as all of the judges that helped with this competition.  We are really looking forward to making this Saison.  Unless I am mistaken, this will be the first farmhouse style ale brewed by a production brewery in Texas.  We are looking into getting some blank cans and a labeler.  We plan on brewing this beer in June or July with it’s release expected about a month after brewing.  We are already looking forward to next year’s competition!

     "Bombshell Blonde" submitted for approval
Posted by Dave on 12/3/2008
Hi All,
Things have picked up and we've been pretty busy here at the brewery.  Thanks to all of y'all for your continued support.  We have just submitted the label for approval for "Bombshell Blonde", a creamy blonde ale.  The label is for 12 oz cans.  Guys (and gals), we are pretty stoked about this new addition to our line-up.  Feedback has been very good for the blonde ale (previously only available on draft, and pretty limited at best) so we decided to make the next move and can this year-round beer.  Our artist is now working on can design for Buried Hatchet Stout, and we plan on releasing that as a year round beer also.  Thanks again, and we'll keep you posted!

     Oktoberfest
Posted by Dave on 10/27/2008
Our Oktoberfest party went off without a hitch.  Over 140 people consumed an 80 lb pig, six chickens, 6 gallons of beans,  over 220 brats, and 75 gallons of beer.  I think that everyone had a pretty good time.  This will be an annual event, so if you missed it, there's always next year.  For those of you that made it, thanks for coming out and sharing your Saturday night with us!

     Rauchbier Release
Posted by Dave on 10/13/2008
Hi All,
The official release of Texas' only commercially available Rauchbier will be at the Oktoberfest party at the brewery on October 25th.  This event has SOLD OUT.  Everyone else should start seeing the Rauchbier in key draft accounts by the 1st of November.  Cheers, and thanks for drinking from an AMERICAN OWNED brewery!
